THERMOS RECALLS 8.1 MILLION STAINLESS KING FOOD JARS AND SPORTSMAN BOTTLES

Thermos is recalling approximately 8.1 million Stainless King Food Jars and Sportsman Food & Beverage Bottles due to a safety hazard. The recalled products include Stainless King models SK3000 (16-oz) and SK3020 (24-oz) manufactured before July 2023, and all Sportsman model SK3010 (40-oz) Food & Beverage Bottles. These containers lack a pressure relief feature in the stopper. If perishable food or beverages are stored for an extended period, pressure can build up, causing the stopper to forcefully eject upon opening and posing risks of serious impact injuries and lacerations.

Consumers should immediately stop using the affected containers. Contact Thermos for a free replacement: owners of the 3000 and 3020 Food Jars will need to dispose of the old stopper and send a photo of it to Thermos, while owners of the 3010 Bottles will receive a prepaid shipping label to return the product. The items were sold nationwide at Target, Walmart, Amazon, and other retailers (including Thermos.com) from around March 2008 through July 2024 for about $30.

Thermos has received 27 reports of stoppers ejecting forcefully, including cases of impact and laceration injuries that required medical attention. Three consumers suffered permanent vision loss after being struck in the eye. The Thermos logo appears on the side of the products, with model numbers printed on the bottom. This is Recall number 26-444.
