Thomas Murrel Kyle

Murrel was a member and ordained deacon at New Macedonia Baptist Church in Philadelphia, Tennessee, for 58 years and served the church as a deacon for 28 years. He was a fifty-plus-year member of the Sweetwater Masonic Lodge #292. He retired from Athens Products in 2000, after 29 years of service. Before that, he worked as a butcher at Alfred’s IGA and Paul Red’s Grocery.

He loved woodworking, especially building grandfather clocks and kitchen cabinets, and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Clara (Walker) Kyle, his brother, Jerry Kyle, and sister, Barbara (Kyle) Shope.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Bernice (Green) Kyle. daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Allmond. His grandsons, Kyle and his wife Jessica Allmond of Loudon, and Kaleb Allmond of Sweetwater. His great-grandchildren, Ivee Rhea and Thomas McClain (Mack). His sisters-in-law: Brenda Kyle, Freda Green, and Alice Greene. Nieces: Misty Kyle and Lisa Clower. Nephews: Jeff Kyle, Michael Shope, Doug Clower, Charles Greene, and Danny Baker. His uncle, Carl Walker. Double-first cousins, Sonny Kyle and Lester Kyle of Sweetwater. And several other cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Adoration Hospice of Sweetwater and to Penny Ratledge for the wonderful care they provided to Murrel and his family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at New Macedonia Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Mitch Isbill, Rev. Bill White, and Rev. Jimmy Ridge officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater in charge of arrangements.
