THOMAS W. MELSON, AGE 96

Thomas W. Melson, age 96, of Jamestowne Assisted Living, passed away December 22, 2020. He was born in Cullman, Alabama February 29, 1924 to Sammy Lee Melson and Milbra Dorothy Rose Rodgers Melson. He came to Tennessee in 1944 where he met Wilma E. Hart and they were married 63 years before her death in 2011. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He served as an iron worker with the local 384 on many TVA projects and also served as pastor to three churches. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Kingston. As one of nine children, he was preceded in death by all of them and his parents. He was also preceded in death by sons-in-law: Claude Hill and David Marshall. He is survived by his children: Melba Marshall of Rockwood, Myra Humphrey (Gary) of Kingston, Thomas A (Alvo) Melson of Kingston, Carolyn Ladd (Ronnie) of Kingston, and Jeff Melson (Susan) of Kingston; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A private family service will be held Saturday, December 26, 2020 and followed by a public graveside service at the Swan Pond Cemetery in Harriman at 1 p.m. eastern. Those who wish to sign the guestbook may come by Evans Mortuary in Rockwood between the hours of 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. eastern. The guest book will also be available to sign at the graveside service. Those in attendance please wear a mask and practice social distancing in respect to the family and in accordance with local and state guidelines. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jamestowne for the love and care they have shown Mr. Melson for the past thirteen years that he has resided there. Evans Mortuary is serving the family.
