Tennessee State Troopers have begun an investigation after a pedestrian, Tony Lee Ford, was hit by a Volvo tractor-trailer and killed around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday near Deep Springs Road on I-40 East in Jefferson County.

A report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Ford tried crossing from the right shoulder of the interstate into the second lane. The Volvo driver wasn’t able to stop in time, and hit Ford.

According to the THP, the truck driver won’t be charged.
