THREE CLAIBORNE HIGH SCHOOL TEENS FACING RAPE CHARGES

The New Tazewell Police Department has charged three juveniles with delinquency via Aggravated Rape after a possible hazing incident at Claiborne County High School’s football camp on July 30.
Head Football coach Nathan Medlin resigned on Monday, but it is not known if his resignation had anything to do with the investigation.
The teens so far are presumed innocent as the charges are accusations, not evidence.
Claiborne County Schools Director Meredith Arnold released a statement on Thursday,
“Both our school board members and our administrative team remain fully aware that an incident occurred during the Claiborne High School Football camp. We treat such matters with the utmost importance, which is why law enforcement was immediately notified and asked to conduct a full investigation. Because that law enforcement investigation remains ongoing, and because Claiborne County Schools possesses a duty to at all times protect student privacy, neither the Board nor I as the Director of Schools can offer any further specific comments on this situation.”
A final statement by Claiborne County Schools says privacy laws would prevent them from making any public comment on specific students, and asks all questions on the subject be sent to the District attorney’s office.
