THREE JUVENILES IN HIGH-SPEED CHASE IN ROANE COUNTY

On Saturday night just before 10 PM, a Rockwood police officer was assisting in a traffic stop with a Roane County Sheriff Deputy along Gateway Ave., when a black car failed to move over for emergency vehicles and became extremely close to striking the deputy.

When trying to attempt to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, it failed to stop. According to the police report, as the vehicle pursued, it reached speeds of 130 mph and was all over the roadway. It made a sudden stop to make a U-turn causing the Rockwood patrol unit to strike it. The vehicle then took back off Northbound before pulling over near the Rhea County High School.

There were three occupants of the vehicle. A 17-year-old juvenile was the driver with a 14 and 16-year-old as passengers, and all according to the report have been drinking alcohol. The 17-year-old was taken on to the Roane Medical Center to be evaluated and then transported to the County Juvenile Detention Facility. The other two juveniles were released into their parents’ custody.

Charges are forthcoming for the 17-year-old.
