The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office says a toddler is in critical condition after being found in a swimming pool.

Deputies were dispatched Friday afternoon to a reported drowning on Mountain Meadows Drive in New Market. Officers learned a 23-month-old child had gone missing and was found in a swimming pool.

Deputies arrived to see family members performing CPR on the child. Officers took over CPR until medics arrived and took the child to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. The toddler was later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Knoxville.

Authorities did not release any further information regarding the incident.
