TONY CLOWER NAMED TIAAA ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR

Tony Clower with the Roane County School System has been named TIAAA Athletic Director of the Year.

Clower began teaching and coaching at Coalfield High School in Morgan County in 1990. While there, he served at the assistant boys’ basketball coach. In 1991, he became the head basketball coach. In 1994 he coached the first Coalfield boys to ever win a game in a region tournament.

In 1995, Clower moved back to Roane County where he served as a science teacher at Cherokee Middle School and assisted with the high school basketball team at Roane County High School. He would then coach the boys and girls basketball teams at Midway High School. From 1999 to 2007, Clower served as the principal and athletic director at Midway High School. The athletic program there was recognized as an A.F. Bridges Sportsmanship Award finalist four times. Clower was presented the A.F. Bridges Award for Principal of the Year for the 2005-2006 school term.

Since 2007, he has been serving as the Assistant Director of Schools in Roane County.
