TORNADO WATCH EXTENDED FOR FENTRESS AND PICKETT COUNTIES

The National Weather Service has extended Tornado Watch 124 to include parts of Middle Tennessee, with Fentress and Pickett counties now under the watch through 9:00 PM Central Daylight Time this evening.

The extended watch area includes the cities of Jamestown, Allardt, and Byrdstown, where atmospheric conditions remain favorable for the development of tornadoes, along with damaging winds and large hail.

Residents in these areas are urged to stay weather-aware, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be prepared to take immediate shelter should conditions worsen.

A tornado watch means tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area. It does not mean a tornado has been spotted—only that weather conditions are conducive to tornado formation.

This is a developing weather situation. Stay tuned to local media outlets and NOAA Weather Radio for updates.
