TORNADO WATCH ISSUED FOR MIDDLE TN

The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Watch #124 for a large portion of Middle Tennessee and parts of southern Kentucky and northern Alabama, in effect until 9:00 PM CDT on Saturday, April 5, 2025.

This watch includes major population centers such as Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, and Bowling Green, as well as communities like Columbia, Tullahoma, Cookeville, and Florence. In total, over 3.3 million people are within the watch area, which also encompasses 853 schools and 80 hospitals.

According to the alert, conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing a few strong tornadoes. Isolated hail up to the size of ping pong balls is possible, along with widespread wind gusts of up to 75 miles per hour.

Residents within the affected counties are urged to remain weather-aware throughout the day, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and be ready to take shelter immediately should a warning be issued. This severe weather setup presents a significant threat and could evolve rapidly.
