TRAFFIC STOP UNCOVERS STOLEN TRUCK, FENTANYL, AND METH
On Tuesday, Deputy Morgan Alvarez conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 127 North for a truck having a front light bar on while driving. Another Deputy ran the license plate through dispatch and it came back ‘not on file’.
Alvarez made contact with the driver, identified as Jimmy Bowman, who said he did not have a driving license, and that the passenger, identified as Crystal Cooper, was driving till the truck started messing up.
A check through dispatch confirmed Bowman’s driving license was suspended. The two both stated that they had just bought the truck and did not know it was not registered. Both were asked to step out of the vehicle to further speak with them.
Bowman gave verbal consent to search the vehicle, and paraphernalia was found during the search. The deputy located a red straw in the glove box and tin foil. Alvarez ran the VIN on the truck through dispatch and dispatch confirmed the truck had been stolen from Cumberland County.
Bowman and Cooper both said they did not know it was stolen, and they had bought the truck from a local. Both were placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Jail for booking.
While at the Cumberland County Jail, a strip search was conducted of Bowman, and Correction Officers located a plastic bag with a rubber band around it, inside that bag were 3 plastic baggies containing 7.31 grams of methamphetamine, 2 plastic baggies containing 5.08 grams of fentanyl, 5 pieces of folded aluminum foil containing 2.04 grams of fentanyl.
During a strip search of Cooper at the Cumberland County Jail, Correction Officers located 3 cut straws commonly used for narcotic use and burnt tin foil.
