TRAGIC FALL AT BEE ROCK OVERLOOK IN PUTNAM COUNTY CLAIMS LIFE OF 9-YEAR-OLD BOY
A tragic incident occurred Thursday afternoon, February 12, 2026, at the Bee Rock Overlook in Putnam County, Tennessee, near Monterey, when a 9-year-old boy fell from the scenic overlook.
The Monterey Police Department received a 911 call reporting the fall at approximately 2:26 p.m. Emergency responders, including police officers and Putnam County EMS, quickly arrived, descended to the location where the boy had fallen, and attempted life-saving measures, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful in reviving him.
The child’s body was recovered and brought back to the top of Bee Rock before being transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office by EMS. Authorities expressed their condolences, stating that their thoughts and prayers are with the boy’s family and friends during this difficult time.
The Monterey Police Department also thanked assisting agencies, including the Monterey Fire Department, Putnam County Rescue, Fire, EMA, and Sheriff’s Office, for their support. No additional details about the circumstances or the boy’s identity were released, and the incident appears to remain under investigation.
