TRIAL DATE SCHEDULED FOR MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING WOMAN AND UNBORN CHILD

A Putnam County man charged with murdering his fiancée and unborn child will go on trial next year.

Authorities say 24-year-old Christian Luna of Cookeville stands accused in the shooting death of his fiancée, 23-year-old Lyndzay Bounds. She was pregnant at the time of her death.

Authorities say back on February 6, 2022, officers conducted a welfare check at an apartment on West 12th Street in Cookeville. They arrived and discovered Bounds unresponsive. She was declared dead at the scene.

Cookeville Police Department detectives began a homicide investigation into her death and identified Luna as a suspect. They issued a warrant for his arrest for first-degree murder. He was located in Carencro, Louisiana, and brought back to Tennessee.

Officials say the trial of Luna is scheduled to start on August 20, 2024, in Putnam County Criminal Court.
