TRIAL DATE SCHEDULED IN BRUTAL ANDERSON COUNTY MURDER CASE

A trial date has been scheduled for 56-year-old Sean Shannon Finnegan in Anderson County.

He is charged with the brutal murder of a woman in Oak Ridge in August 2020.

The trial is set to start on August 12, 2024. It is expected to last a few days.

The district attorney’s office is seeking the death penalty for Finnegan,

Finnegan and 25-year-old Rebecca Dishman were arrested for the death of 36-year-old Jennifer Gail Paxton.

Police say Paxton lived with the two suspects in a home at 318 East Fairview Road in Oak Ridge.

Court documents say Paxton was tortured, raped, and deprived of food and medical care. They also stated her body was put in a freezer, with parts of it removed.

Both Finnegan and Dishman have been in the Anderson County jail in Clinton since they were arrested on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated rape, aggravated kidnapping, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence.

Dishman pleaded guilty in September 2023, to first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison. Dishman, as a condition of her plea, is required to cooperate with Clark’s office in its case against Finnegan
