TRIAL DELAYED FOR MAN CHARGED WITH DEATH OF LOUDON COUNTY OFFICER

A judge has approved a motion to delay a trial for Christopher Savannah.

Savannah faces vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular homicide by recklessness, reckless endangerment, and other violations.

His trial was to start tomorrow (September 13, 2023). A new trial date will be determined. Savannah’s attorneys said additional time is needed to prepare their defense.

On February 3, 2022, Loudon County Sgt. Chris Jenkins was moving a ladder out of the roadway on I-75 near mile marker 74 when he was hit and killed by a tractor-trailer operated by Savannah.

Law enforcement said Jenkins joined the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office in 2002.
