TURPIN CHARGED WITH PROMOTING CONTRABAND IN KENTUCKY JAIL
This morning, a female inmate at the Wayne County Detention Center in Kentucky was charged with first-degree promoting contraband. While watching surveillance cameras, a guard noticed Elisha J. Turpin of Monticello, Kentucky, appeared to be using narcotics in a cell. During a search of the cell, a baggie fell out of Turpin’s clothing. The baggie contained numerous types of controlled substances, including methamphetamine, buprenorphine hydrochloride and marijuana. It also contained items not listed as controlled substances, including baclofen, quetiapine fumarate pills and tobacco. A joint investigation is ongoing with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Wayne County Detention Center.
