TWO JUNVENILE MALES HELD IN SHOOTING OF 2 YEAR OLD GIRL SATURDAY NIGHT

The Knoxville Police Department is investigating after a two-year-old was shot after a gun was discharged inside of a downtown Knoxville apartment on Saturday evening.

The Knoxville Police Department and Knoxville Fire Department responded to the The Vista apartment complex on E. Hill Avenue at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, after receiving reports that a 2-year-old girl was struck after a gun discharged in an apartment.

The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Based on their investigation, police believe the girl was struck after the firearm was unintentionally discharged inside the apartment.

According to KPD, a 12-year old boy and a 14-year-old boy have been charged with felony reckless endangerment and juvenile in possession of a firearm. Police added that additional charges are likely.

No other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
