TWO OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTINGS IN TENNESSEE OVER THE WEEKEND UNDER INVESTIGATION
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation special agents are looking into the circumstances leading to an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning in McMinn County, and overnight Saturday in Bradley County.
On Sunday, just after 2 a.m., McMinn County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a home on County Road 116 in Athens for shots fired. There, deputies reportedly fired shots at a man who pointed a weapon at them. The man was airlifted to a Chattanooga hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.
And just before midnight Saturday, a man is shot and killed by Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies after he failed to pull over for a traffic stop. The sheriff’s office said 39-year-old Jerry Livingston accelerated into the front of a deputy’s patrol car after being blocked in resulting in the deputy firing shots into the vehicle. Livingston died at the scene.
No officers were injured in either incident.
