TWRA OFFICERS RESPOND TO THREE DIFFERENT BOATING ACCIDENTS OVER THE WEEKEND

Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency (TWRA) officers responded to three boating incidents over the weekend.

The first occurred on Watts Bar, just north of King Creek, in Roane County. A 48-year-old Rockwood male entered the water from his boat and misjudged the water depth. The boat propeller struck the man who sustained serious injuries. He was flown by Lifestar to UT Medical Center in Knoxville and was last listed in stable condition.

A second incident took place in Meigs County, near the Highway 58 bridge on the Hiwassee River. A boat collision involved two from Bradley County in a 16-foot Bayliner and four from Polk County in a 20-foot Sylvan ski boat. One individual was transported by Lifeforce to Erlanger Medical Center and one by ambulance to Cleveland Hospital.

The third incident occurred on Dale Hollow Lake near Willow Grove involving a 17-year-old from Ohio. The female was being pulled behind a rental boat on a tube when it suddenly flipped. She was taken to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in Nashville for treatment of back injuries.
