TWRA OPENS PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD FOR 2026-27 HUNTING REGULATIONS
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) has opened a public comment period for its proposed regulations governing the 2026-27 hunting and trapping seasons. These proposals were presented during the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission (TFWC) meeting held on March 6-7 (or March 5-6 in some references), and the public is invited to submit feedback through April 2.
Individuals can watch the full discussions from those meetings on the TWRA’s YouTube channel for more details on the recommendations, which include no major changes to big game seasons but discussions around items like the spring turkey season start date, wildlife management area adjustments, and other elements such as waterfowl and deer calendars. Comments can be provided via the TWRA’s public notice webpage or by emailing [email protected].
The Commission will then vote on final approval of the proposals at its April 16-17 meeting in Knoxville, with any approved regulations set to take effect on August 1. The TWRA manages and conserves Tennessee’s fish and wildlife resources for residents and visitors while also promoting public safety through enforcement and education.
