U.S. HOUSE BUDGET COMM. PROPOSES CUTTING $230 BILLION FROM SNAP
The United States Agriculture Committee has been asked to find a way to cut 230 billion worth from the Department of Agriculture, which could include supplemental nutrition assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
This request comes from the United States House of Representatives Budget Committee.
SNAP benefits help many families secure food, as many counties and cities throughout America have large food insecurity rates. Indeed, many families are dependent on such programs as well as aid from local food pantries.
The Agriculture Committee is tasked with giving the budget committee a plan on how they will make cuts, and they have until the 27th of March to do so.
