UNEMPLOYMENT RATES DROP IN NEARLY ALL OF TENNESSEE’S COUNTIES DURING APRIL

Unemployment rates in 94 of Tennessee’s 95 counties fell in April, according to data released Thursday by the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Unemployment in Maury County remained unchanged.
Ninety-four counties have rates lower than 5 percent and only Clay County’s rate is higher than 5 percent – at 5.6 percent.
Unemployment in Williamson County dipped to 1.9 percent in April, down half a percentage point from March.
“County unemployment rates continue to be extraordinarily positive,” said TDLWD Commissioner Jeff McCord. “Across our state we are now seeing unemployment rates at or below 5 percent become the norm.”
