UPDATE ON HICKMAN COUNTY EXPLOSION; 19 PEOPLE UNNACCOUNTED FOR
An explosion at the Accurate Energetic Systems (AES) facility in the Bucksnort area this morning has left at least 19 people unaccounted for, with Humphreys County Sheriff Chris Davis confirming fatalities but not specifying numbers. AES specializes in developing, manufacturing, handling, and storing explosives for military, aerospace, and commercial demolition markets.
The blast, which occurred near the time of a regular shift change, completely destroyed one building, believed to be Building Six, though it’s unclear how many people worked inside. The scene remains highly active, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the area, follow local instructions, and minimize non-emergency calls to the Sheriff’s Office and 911 to support emergency response efforts.
The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is expected to provide an update soon.
