VANDERBILT LIFEFLIGHT HERO KILLED IN WILSON COUNTY HELICOPTER CRASH
A tragic helicopter crash in Wilson County, Tennessee, claimed the life of veteran Vanderbilt University Medical Center LifeFlight paramedic Allan Williams, who had served for 15 years saving others.
The incident occurred shortly after takeoff from Music City Executive Airport in Gallatin on Saturday, with no patients aboard; the pilot and flight nurse Andy Sikes sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Vanderbilt. Williams, survived by his wife and two young sons, was honored in a procession with an American flag and blue lights, drawing tributes from colleagues, the Wilson County Firefighter Association, Mayor Randall Hutto, and U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn.
Described as a compassionate “angel in the sky,” Williams exemplified the high risks of medical aviation, as noted by experienced flight nurse Rose Agas-Yuu. The crash is under investigation by the NTSB and FAA.
