VEHICLE FIRE ON I-40 BY AIRPORT ROAD THURSDAY NIGHT

Interstate 40 westbound at Airport Road exit 340-mile marker at the Roane/Cumberland County line was shut down last night due to a tractor-trailer that was on fire. The incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. There were no injuries reported as the driver was able to escape the burning truck. Westel Volunteer Fire Department was sent to the scene along with Emergency Management and West Roane County Fire Apparatus to battle the truck fire. After getting it under control the interstate was open to one lane for the duration of cleanup and the investigation until the tractor-trailer could be pulled from the scene.

We are waiting for the Tennessee Highway Patrol report on that accident. No other vehicles were involved.
