Putnam County firefighters and medics responded to a vehicle crash yesterday on I-40 east of Monterey.

Initial reports indicate a car collided with a tractor-trailer.

The impact sent the car into a guard rail. The force of the crash sent the motor and transmission out of the vehicle. It came to rest a few feet from the vehicle.

Officials say only minor injuries were reported in the accident.
