Kyker – Vida Ruth Gallaher Russell peacefully passed away at home, June 1, 2025 at the age of 94. Born on May 9, 1931 to John Henry and Minnie Iris Smith Gallaher.

Vida was born in Oak Ridge where her family lived in the Wheat area until they moved to Kingston in the 1940’s where she lived her life. She retired from Roane Hosiery Mill after 35 years and took care of numerous family members throughout her life.

She was a member of Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant until her health declined. Her most enjoyable time was being with her grandchildren and gardening.

Husband of 46 years, Horace Russell
Brothers: Frank, Tommie, Burton, Edward, and Charlie.
Sisters: Reece, Jean, Lucy and Virgie.

Son: Dennis Russell and wife Tammi of Kingston
Daughter: Connie Schrimpsher and husband Rick of Kingston
Grandchildren: Jennifer and Jeff Underwood, Russell Schrimpsher and Austin, Jody Russell and Kristie, Haley Silvey, Rikki and Ted Howard.
Great-grandchildren: Corbin, Karlee, Brynlee, Perry, Alli, Jax, Wade, Logan, Taryn and Tim Phillips, Jacie and Logan Roberts.
Great, great-grandchildren: Joah, Emerson, and Grayson, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston. Funeral at 1:00 p.m. in the Kyker Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Nickell officiating. Burial will follow at Kingston Memorial Gardens. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Russell Family.
