VOTERS COULD VOTE ON RECREATIONAL AND MEDICAL MARIJUANA IN TENNESSEE IF BILL PASSES

Legislation has been submitted to put recreational and medical marijuana use on the ballot for voters to decide next year. House Bill 1634 was introduced by State Representative Bruce Griffey on July 7, 2021. If passed, it will require county election commissions to include three non-binding questions related to the legalization of marijuana on the November 2022 ballot. It also calls for the secretary of state to compile the results of the public policy opinion poll and forward the results to the members of the general assembly. A date the house will consider and vote on this proposed bill was initially unannounced.
