WBIR ANCHOR BILL WILLIAMS PASSED AWAY AT 91

Bill Williams, a revered figure in East Tennessee journalism and WBIR anchor emeritus, passed away at the age of 91. Born in Missouri in 1934, Williams pursued his education in Oklahoma before embarking on a career in television news, working in Jefferson City and Columbia, Missouri.
He joined WBIR in Knoxville in 1977, becoming a prominent anchor, and returned to the desk in 2006. Williams was predeceased by his wife of 36 years, Wanda, who passed away in October 2019. His legacy as a pillar of journalism in the region endures.
