WALDO ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG AND WEAPON CHARGES

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force charged a Lenoir City resident with multiple drug and weapon charges during a traffic stop on Big Springs Road last night.

Anthony Lynn Waldo, age 48, faces possession of a Schedule II controlled substance with intent to resell (meth), possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to resell (heroin), delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (heroin), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.

Waldo was taken to the Blount County Correctional Facility and placed under bonds totaling $250,000. He has a hearing scheduled in Blount County General Sessions Court February 3, 2021.

Investigators with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, agents with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives arrested Waldo following a several month long investigation into the sale of heroin and crystal methamphetamine in and around Blount County. During the arrest, Waldo was found with 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 92 grams of heroin, several firearms, ammunition, and more than $1,000 in currency. The investigation is ongoing.

“Sellers of heroin and methamphetamine continue to be our main focus,” Sheriff Berrong said. “With overdose deaths in our jurisdiction continuing to rise, we will pursue the sellers of those drugs as well as persons possessing firearms while being involved with the distribution of it.”

The Fifth Judicial Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is a collaborative effort with deputies and officers assigned from the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Maryville Police Department, and Alcoa Police Department.
