JERRY WOODS MOUNTS, AGE 71

Jerry Woods Mounts, age 71 of Harriman, passed away January 26, 2021 at Roane Medical Center.

He was born in Wharncliffe, West Virginia August 3, 1949. He is the son of Walter Mounts and June Spence Benedict. He attended First Baptist Church of Kingston. Jerry started his career as a Boilermaker with Local 667 in Charleston, West Virginia. He also took pride in being the Assistant Chief of the Cottageville Volunteer Fire Department of West Virginia.

He then moved to Kingston, Tennessee with GUBMK and finished his career at the Tennessee Valley Authority as a construction manager. He retired in 2016. After retiring he enjoyed taking his wife treasure hunting at estate sales every weekend. He was an avid sports fan and loved cheering on his favorite teams. He most enjoyed the 20 years he was able to coach his two sons for baseball, and he continued being a super supportive “Pops” by attending all events and concerts for his four beautiful grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Jerry was well loved by all his friends and family and he never met a stranger.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father: Waler Mounts; mother: June Spence Benedict; stepfather: John Benedict; mother-in-law: Ardella Click; and father-in-law: Ralph Click.

He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 52 years: Brenda Mounts; daughter: Nichole Moore (Marvin); son: Jay Mounts (Melissa) and son, Brandon Mounts and wife Christine; sister, Pamela Brunk and husband David; brother, Greg Benedict and grandchildren, Amy Moore, Bailey Mounts, Hayden Mounts and Clara Mounts. He also cherished time with his sister-in-law, Katy Cox and husband Jim; brother-in-law, Bill Click and wife Debbie; sister-in-law, Mila Norris and husband Mike Norris; and all his nieces and nephews.

There will be no visitation or public service. A private family service will be held at Franklin Road Baptist Church in Murfreesboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: The Building Fund at First Baptist Church of Kingston 215 N. Kentucky St. Kingston, Tennessee 37763.
