WALMART RECALLS GREAT VALUE APPLE JUICE DUE TO ARSENIC
Almost 10,000 cases of Great Value brand apple juice were recalled from stores in 25 states after they were found to contain possibly harmful amounts of arsenic.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a more thorough announcement which said the products are unlikely to cause serious issues but could cause temporary adverse effects.
Manufacturer Refresco Beverages US Inc. based in Florida issued the recall after discovering the amount of arsenic exceeded industry standards.
Apples, pears, and grapes tend to absorb arsenic from the soil which could have been produced either naturally or from the use of pesticides. It isn’t unusual for products made with these fruits to contain low amounts of arsenic.
So far, the FDA hasn’t shared any reports of possible illnesses linked to the apple juice.
