WATTS BAR, DALE HOLLOW AND CENTER HILL FISHING REPORT – JULY 9, 2020

WATTS BAR

Reservoir Conditions: The lake is slightly above normal summer pool. The water temperature is 82 degrees.

Crappie: Most crappie are being caught at night. Anglers fish around docks, bluff walls, or on secondary ledges while using lights. Minnows, jigs, or spoons are being used as bait.

Bass: Shallow bass are being caught adjacent to deeper water around grass, rocky banks, or docks. A few deeper pattern fish are being caught on open water points and ledges. Jigs, crankbaits, plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and topwater lures are being used to catch largemouth and small mouth bass. Many night anglers are catching fish.

Catfish: Catfish are being caught in all areas of all three Rivers. Use meaty baits where current is present.

Bluegill/Shellcracker: Many fish are being caught around docks or rock Bluff walls. Use crickets or worms for bait.

Striped Bass: The upper Clinch and Tennessee rivers are good. Shad is the best bait. Swimbaits and jigs are also being used. Current is needed for good fishing.

Walleye: Night fishing is better. Use live bait for the best action. Some walleye are being caught on nightcrawlers behind spinner rigs.

DALE HOLLOW

Reservoir Conditions: Fishing is good. The water temperature is 84 degrees and the lake is falling.

Smallmouth Bass: Lots of smallmouth are being caught at night on jigs on points in 15-22 feet of water. Also a lot of smallmouth are being caught early in the morning on topwater baits while fish are chasing shad.

Largemouth Bass: Several largemouth are being caught on soft plastics while fishing grass in 10-20 feet of water on the main lake.

Walleye: Several walleye are being caught while trolling nightcrawlers on flats in 25-28 feet of water.

CENTER HILL

Reservoir Conditions: Fishing is fair. The water temperature is 84.5 degrees and the lake is falling slowly.

Bass: Several bass are being caught at night on soft plastics, jigs, and spinnerbaits while fishing points and channel banks in 10-25 feet of water.

Walleye: A few walleye are being caught while trolling humps and flats in 20 feet of water on nightcrawler rigs.
