WEAR BLUE: RUN TO REMEMBER ANNOUNCES ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY RUN IN CROSSVILLE

Honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s military has become a tradition in the U.S. and wear blue: run to remember is a national nonprofit organization committed to building a running community that seeks to honor that sacrifice. Its annual Memorial Day run is slated for Monday, May 27.

More than 20,000 runners and walkers worldwide will become a living memorial to America’s fallen heroes. Locally, the wear blue run will start at South Cumberland Elementary School, 3536 Lantana Road in Crossville. The event begins at 7 a.m.

Participants may either run or walk. There is no cost associated with the event, but participants are encouraged to sign up early. Runners and walkers can register now at www.wearblueruntoremember.org. Participants will be provided the name of an American Service Member who died in battle.

The run/walk will begin with a Circle of Remembrance, in which the names of military members killed in war are called out. The route for the event will proceed north, on the sidewalk, along Lantana Road. Participants may run or walk any distance they choose.

“The Memorial Day Run is really for any type of runner, or walker no matter what their athletic level is,” said Memorial Day Program Director Cindy Gersch. “We are encouraging people of all ages to participate in this event and help us meet our goal of 20,000 participants.”
