According to kidsandcars.org, the small child that died after being left in a hot car in Knoxville Friday, was the third child to die that way in Tennessee in 2019. Neither the age or gender of the child has been released. Statistics reported by the website also say that the death was the 31st such death in the United States this year with seven of those children dying during the first nine days of August. They say that the Volunteer State ranks 8th in the nation based on the number of child hot car deaths with 35 fatalities since 1990. They also site 2018 as being the worst year in history for child hot car deaths with a total of 53 children dying in that fashion nationwide.
