WEILZEN SENTENCED TO LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE FOR MURDER OF MCMINN COUNTY TEEN
A McMinn County jury found 19-year-old Joseph Wielzen guilty in the 2017 death of a McMinn County teen. He was unanimously convicted on first-degree murder, premeditated murder and aggravated rape. Officers say 16-year-old Kelsey Burnette was found dead in an alley in Etowah back in 2017. Wielzen raped and killed Burnette on the night of June 30 2017, beating her with a baseball bat. A sentencing hearing was held today for Wielzen who faces life in prison. Just a couple of hours ago, the judge sentenced Wielsen to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
