WELL KNOWN CROSSVILLE BUSINESSMAN PASSES AWAY

A well known Crossville businessman passed away yesterday at the age of 84. DeLoy L. Brown was the owner of DeLoy Brown Petroleum located on Miller Bypass for over 52 years.

He was born June 10, 1936 in Crossville, the son of Lawrence and Nema Tabor Brown. He attended Simple Life Church in Crossville.

His company sponsored the Cumberland County Student of the Month program and the civics education program at Stone Memorial High School. Brown was also one of the original owners of the Rocky Top 10 Cinema.

He also provided special books of comfort for local funeral homes to be given to grieving families.

His company was also a contributor to Kids Christmas Inc., a non-profit organization that gifts for selected students in the county. Mr. Brown also sponsored several athletic teams in the county.

He is survived by his wife: Nancy Hixson Brown of Crossville; son: Rodney Brown (Karen) of Crossville; daughter: Kristie Pugh (Marshall) of Crossville; sister: Sybil Brown of Crossville; grandchildren: Tyler Brown, Lauren Petersen (Seth), Lindsey Pugh and Blake Pugh; and great-granddaughter: Addley Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Keith Brown and Ted Brown.

Funeral services will be held Sunday November 1, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Hood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Acres Memory Gardens.
