WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA I-40 COULD TAKE UP TO THREE YEARS TO REPAIR

Months after Hurricane Helene, Interstate 40 in Western North Carolina remains under repair. Two lanes near the North Carolina-Tennessee line reopened in March, but the current estimate is full restoration may take up to three full years.
