WHITE COUNTY SRO’S RECIEVE 8 NEW VEHICLES
We are thrilled to announce the delivery of 8 new Ford Explorers for our School Resource Officers (SROs), made possible through the state’s SRO grant. This grant covers everything from salaries, training, uniforms, and equipment, up to $75,000 per school. This fleet upgrade did not cost the county anything, ensuring that our budget remains intact while enhancing the safety and reliability of our SRO vehicles. Additionally, the grant covers all the striping and equipment installations, ensuring these vehicles are fully prepared for service without any additional cost to the county. The new vehicles will replace the department’s oldest and most unreliable vehicles, some of which were over 15 years old and had more than 200,000 miles on them. These outdated vehicles had significant engine problems and required frequent maintenance, making them unsafe and unreliable for our SROs.
While we secured this vital upgrade for our SROs, it’s important to note that the county’s 2025 budget only approved funding for 3 new patrol cars for general patrol duties. We continue to prioritize the safety and efficiency of our fleet to better serve our community. The replaced vehicles will later be sold on GovDeals.com, and the funds will be used to purchase additional vehicles for the fleet.
