William Alvin “Will” Mattox, 84

William Alvin “Will” Mattox, age, 84 of Harriman was promoted to eternal life April 28th, 2025. Will was born in Columbia, Tennessee on August 2nd, 1940, to V.A. and Eunice Mattox, and grew up in Oliver Springs with his 7 siblings. During his teenage years he was referred to as “Will the Wheel.” That is when his love of cars began (he never outgrew that). As a young father he began working as a Butcher. Regardless of what tale he told, and there were many, that’s what lead to his “stumpy” finger. His next endeavor resulted in a career as an Insurance Salesman which he excelled at. After he retired, as he had to be busy, he went back to work selling cars. He spent most of his time wheeling and dealing a host of collectibles including but certainly not limited to license plates, glass bottles, postcards, and old coins. His favorite finds were Pepsi items which went into his personal collection. Some of his favorite pastimes were going to car shows, antique stores, watching the Vols and enjoying a good cigar. His most favorite thing of all was spending time with his family, whom he loved above and beyond measure.

Will had unwavering faith and love for the Lord. He secured his spot in Heaven many years ago. He enjoyed studying his Bible and could answer all questions you could ask about the scriptures. He spent many years in different capacities serving his church. His favorite was singing in the Choir and is now singing in the presence of the Lord.

Will was preceded in death by his parents Vernie Alvin Mattox and Eunice Corrine Womble Mattox, Sister Marie Carrol, Brother-in-Law Buddy Pride and Hubert Robbins, Sister-in-law Retha Mattox.

Will is survived by his children, Randy (Kim) Mattox of DeSoto, Kansas, Sandy (Rick) Leavell of Harriman, TN, Tonja (Bob) Childs of Kingston, TN, Godchild Leisa (Steve) Carr of Knoxville, TN, Grandchildren William (Brittany) Mattox of Kingston, TN, Darren Langley of Harriman, TN, Kara Castigliano of Kansas City, MO and the love of his life, Great Grandchild Briley Mattox, Siblings and their Spouses Joe Mack Mattox- Laport, IN, Bobbie Ann Pride – Smyrna, Georgia, Emma “Tiny” Mattox -Oliver Springs, TN, Margaret Robbins- Oliver Springs, TN, Betty (Ralph) McMillian- Clinton, TN, Rodger (Venita) Mattox- Oliver Springs, TN, Tim Carrol- Farragut, TN. along with a host of nieces and nephews and cousins that he loved dearly.
