On July 12, 2023, William H. Moon Jr. (Bill), peacefully passed away at the age of 73. He was at home, surrounded by his loving wife and his two children.

He is predeceased by his father, William H. Moon Sr, and mother, Leona Hill.

He is survived by his wife Mel Moon, their children Rebecca and William Moon, his grandson Wiley Moon, and his sister Martha Adkisson.

Bill grew up in Kingston, TN, with his older sister Martha. He grew up with a sense of adventure and humor that he carried with him throughout his life. He loved golfing, fishing, hunting, and camping with family and friends.

He started off his career teaching in Cumberland County and developed many wonderful friendships there. He was an extraordinary person, who had an uncanny knack of making everyone feel welcome, including people new to the Crossville Community. He went on to work at Y-12 in Oak Ridge and retired from there.

He was a straight-shooter, and his friends and family would describe him as being very special and kind. He found great joy in making his friends and family laugh. He had a strong will and determination that got him through many trials.

He loved to go and enjoy life. He met and married his wife, Mel, in 1973 and they enjoyed 50 wonderful years together. They enjoyed many camping and fishing trips to Dale Hollow Lake with their children. He loved to drive the boat while his kids enjoyed tubing and water skiing.

In typical Bill fashion, there are no services planned. Instead, his preference would be that friends get together for a meal and good times, sharing stories and memories.
