WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY ISSUED FOR EAST TENNESSEE
The National Weather Service has expanded a Winter Weather Advisory to include Rhea, Roane, Bledsoe, Meigs, and Loudon counties in East Tennessee. The advisory will be in effect from 9 AM EST (8 AM CST) to 7 PM EST (6 PM CST) on Sunday. Residents can expect mixed precipitation, with snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to one-tenth of an inch. Some localized areas may experience ice buildup of up to two-tenths of an inch, creating hazardous conditions on roadways and sidewalks.
Travelers should plan for slippery roads and are urged to reduce speed when driving. The combination of snow and ice could lead to delays and minor disruptions in the affected areas. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and call 511 for up-to-date road conditions in their area.
