The Wisconsin man accused of convincing a 14-year-old Madisonville, Tennessee, girl to film her adoptive father raping her will remain in custody, for now.

Yesterday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Peter Oppeneer turned down attempts by lawyers for 31-year-old Bryan D. Rogers, to free him pending prosecution in U.S. District Court in Madison, Wisconsin, and instead set arraignment for February 21st. Rogers has been held in the Dane County, Wisconsin, jail since earlier this month.

Authorities say Rogers and the Monroe County girl traded online messages from late December through mid-January, when he traveled to Tennessee, drove her to Wisconsin and hid her in his mother’s basement. Defense attorneys argued Rogers was trying to help the girl, not take advantage of her.

After a preliminary exam Tuesday afternoon, Oppeneer found probable cause to keep Rogers in jail.
