WOMAN ARRESTED FOR FIRING GUN AT CHERRY STREET GAS STATION

East District Officers with the Knoxville Police Department spotted and arrested an individual wanted for an outstanding felony warrant on Tuesday afternoon.

At around 2:00 p.m. yesterday, while on routine patrol officers saw 20-year-old Melissa Lua and stopped the car she was driving on Cherry Street near the I-40 entrance ramp. Lua was wanted for aggravated assault for allegedly firing a gun into the air during an argument that happened at a gas station on Cherry Street on the afternoon of Monday, September 23rd.

After stopping Lua, officers recovered and confiscated the firearm that she used during that incident. Following the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, additional charges were placed on Lua, including for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
