On Thursday evening at Center Hill Lake, 57-year-old Marybeth Foran from Brentwood died after becoming trapped under a ski boat’s inboard engine propeller. The incident occurred near Hurricane Marina, approximately 300 yards from the main channel.

Foran had jumped into the water to retrieve a fallen item, unaware that the boat was still in gear, leading to fatal injuries.

An adult male, also from Brentwood, was attempting to free her when emergency responders arrived. Despite efforts from multiple agencies, including the DeKalb County Fire Department, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), and others, Foran was pronounced dead at the scene.

The TWRA is investigating this as the 13th boating-related death in Tennessee in 2025.
