WOMAN SUING METRO NASH. SCHOOL BOARD FOR CHILD’S BRAIN INJURY

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A parent is suing Metro Nashville Public Schools after accusing the district of negligence.

Shanikka Sherrill claims her child with autism suffered a brain injury while at school. She says her 7-year-old was hurt at Granberry Elementary School in 2023.

The lawsuit claims the student came home sick and with knots and bruising on their face. When the mother started asking questions, she said the school told her that her child hurt themself.

Sherill called the principal and said she had a different story. She was told that her child was kicked in the head by another student and was never taken to the nurse because the incident was not reported by a teacher.

The mother is suing for $300,000.
