1.7 MILLION WINDOW AIR CONDITIONERS RECALLED FOR MOLD BUILDUP RISK

On June 5, 2025, a recall was issued for approximately 1.7 million U and U+ Window Air Conditioners manufactured by Midea, sold under brands like Midea, Comfort Aire, Danby, Frigidaire, Insignia, Keystone, LBG Products, Mr. Cool, Perfect Aire, and Sea Breeze, with an additional 45,900 units sold in Canada.
These air conditioners, available in 8,000, 10,000, and 12,000 BTU models, pose a health risk due to pooled water that fails to drain quickly, leading to mold growth and potential respiratory issues or infections. Consumers are urged to contact Midea at 888-345-0256 or online at www.MideaUrecall.expertinquiry.com for a free repair kit, technician service, or a full/prorated refund based on purchase or manufacture date.
Refunds require returning the unit or submitting proof of a cut power cord. Midea has received 152 reports of mold, including 17 cases of health issues like respiratory infections and allergic reactions. The units, made in China and Thailand, were sold from March 2020 to May 2025 for $280 to $500 at retailers like Costco, Home Depot, and online platforms such as Amazon and Walmart.
