17-YEAR OLD PICKETT COUNTY HIGH STUDENT KILLED FRIDAY IN CAR ACCIDENT

A tragic automobile accident has took the life of a Byrdstown teen Friday.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 17-year-old Cole Sells was driving westbound on Pendergrass Mountain Road when the accident occurred.  A semi-truck driven by 31-year-old Charles Irwin of Burkesville, Kentucky was traveling eastbound on the roadway.

A crash report states the teenager’s 2001 Dodge Ram moved into the eastbound lane, striking the semi head-on. Both vehicles came to final rest near the point of impact.

Cole was a well known Pickett County High School student and football player.  The school is offering grief counselling for those students that might need it.
