18-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR DUI AND LEAVING SCENE OF ACCIDENT

On July 23, 2025, at approximately 1:01 AM, Deputy Caleb Cathey of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Valley Lane and Brookhaven Drive in Crossville, Tennessee, after observing a gray sedan, driven by 18-year-old Christian G. Lozada, collide with a stop sign at Dayton Avenue and Miller Avenue and then flee the scene.

During the stop, Deputy Cathey noted damage to the vehicle’s driver-side rear bumper consistent with the collision. Upon approaching Lozada, the deputy detected a strong odor of alcohol, observed slurred speech, and noted that Lozada was unsteady on his feet. Lozada, after being removed from his vehicle, immediately stated, “Just take me to jail.” He performed poorly on the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test, showing significant impairment, and nearly fell during the Walk and Turn Test, after which he refused further sobriety testing.

He was arrested for Driving Under the Influence, Underage Consumption, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. Two vials of blood were collected as evidence. Lozada was transported to Cumberland County Intake, with charges filed under Tennessee statutes, and a court date set for August 18, 2025, with bond amounts totaling $4,000.
