19-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED AFTER HIGH-SPEED PURSUIT AND RAMMING PATROL CARS IN CROSSVILLE
A 19-year-old Spring City man is facing multiple severe felony charges after allegedly leading law enforcement on a high-speed vehicle pursuit that ended in a multi-vehicle crash and the intentional ramming of several patrol cars early Wednesday morning.
According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Zachary Early spotted a stolen black 2008 Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling near 4075 Highway 68 shortly before 2:00 a.m. on October 14. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier from a gas station in Spring City and was being tracked via a mobile phone left inside.
When Deputy Early verified the stolen status of the truck and attempted to initiate a traffic stop with emergency lights and sirens activated, the driver refused to pull over and accelerated.
During the subsequent pursuit, the suspect vehicle reached speeds near 100 mph and crossed into oncoming traffic, forcing an innocent motorist off the roadway into a ditch to avoid a head-on collision.
The chase came to a halt in downtown Crossville on S. Main Street, where the suspect crashed into city property and a building.
Attempting to escape after the collision, the driver threw the truck into reverse and rammed the driver-side door of Deputy Jason Wayne Powers’ patrol vehicle. As officers moved in to contain the scene, the driver rammed a second patrol vehicle occupied by Sgt. Wilson, as well as a vehicle occupied by City K9 Officer Chrystal Massey and K9 Officer Vallen.
Officers successfully stopped the vehicle and took the suspect into custody at approximately 2:30 a.m. The suspect initially refused to identify himself to authorities but was later identified as 19-year-old Asher Skye Martin of Spring City, Tennessee.
Martin was booked into the Cumberland County Jail on multiple charges, including:
-
Aggravated Assault on a First Responder (3 counts)
-
Evading Arrest
-
Reckless Endangerment
-
Reckless Driving
-
Vandalism
-
Failure to Produce Identification
Total bonds associated with the charges were set at over $45,000. Martin is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court on November 9, 2026. The stolen truck was impounded by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
